Visual Artist Ann-Mari Kamppuri
I am a free-time artist living in Jyväskylä. My own father once inspired me to be enchanted by art,
but it wasn’t until I was an adult that I started painting myself.
My family roots can be found in North Karelia, but I have lived in Pyhäjärvi during my childhood and
adolescence and my roots are strongly there.
I first learned painting independently, but when my family and I moved to Jyväskylä, I decided to apply to study oil painting at the Jyväskylä Civic College. There I studied oil painting in the years 2016-2020. My biggest teacher has always been my own father, I get help from him immediately if I need advice.
My main work is in the nursing field, and there I found myself involved in art in the role of the culture
manager of my unit. I like nursing very much, but art is my passion and love. I always paint when I
anticipate, in the evening before going to sleep and in the morning before going to work. I notice that I am under the spell of the canvas so strongly that I have to set an alarm for the time when I have to stop, so that I can get to work.
I paint life, as my blog is named, so my style and subjects are quite broad. I mainly paint with acrylic and oil colors, but sometimes watercolors and alcohol ink have also gotten lost on the canvases.
